The Arena deputy, Alberto Romero, was transferred this followingnoon, from police barracks, to the Santa Ana prison, as confirmed by the Directorate of Penal Centers in X’s account.
The parliamentarian was transferred by the Penitentiary Operations Group (GOPE), from the barracks of the Border Security Division of the PNC to the western penitentiary, where he will remain while the investigation stage continues, according to the order issued by the judge in the case.
Romero Rodríguez is prosecuted for illicit enrichment and money and asset laundering. The amount for which the parliamentarian is criminally accused exceeds $1.1 million, which includes the $445,776 that the Second Chamber of the Cojutepeque Center Section already ordered him to return in a civil process.
The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic accuses the deputy of 21 irregularities in payments and bank deposits, five of his wife and two of his daughter, according to the Probity Section of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ).
