Incan revokes resolutions on prescription of medicines

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The director of the National Cancer Institute (Incan), Dr. Raúl Doria, apologized to patients for the resolutions issued regarding the prescription of medications and studies. “The intention was to organize the internal process,” he said.

“I would like to sincerely apologize to patients and their families for any inconvenience that these circulars (17-18) have caused and that we are revoking with circular No. 19,” Doria said this Saturday in an interview with Telefuturo.

These internal circulars that prohibited prescribing medications or requesting studies that are not available in the hospital were annulled by Incan, through another resolution, No. 19, dated July 5, 2024.

He mentioned that the intention was not to prohibit but rather to order an internal process regarding prescriptions with respect to the administration of medications within the hospital.

“It was misinterpreted and I want to acknowledge the mistake of having published something that was not fully studied, the possible impact it might have had, when it was published we never thought it might be misinterpreted in that way,” he said.

On this point, he said that as soon as they became aware of the “misinterpretation”, they proceeded to revoke the measures adopted, which ultimately became ineffective.

“Clearly our intention was to begin to organize and, above all, improve the prescription of medications that are not registered in the country, as well as laboratory orders,” he explained.

The professional stressed that the objective is and will continue to be to “improve the management of the hospital” and make better use of supplies and medicines, which he admitted are very limited, in contrast to the needs that are “infinite.”
