The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, inaugurated this Monday the headquarters of the Latin American School of Medicine “Dr. Salvador Allende” in the city of Caracas.
The new headquarters has 22 floors (34 thousand square meters), where dormitory areas, classrooms and laboratories equipped with high technology are distributed, as well as a large library and dining room space.
“This Latin American School of Medicine, together with the University of Health Sciences, has been training (…) and graduating more than 1,500 professionals with a humanistic spirit,” explained the Minister of Popular Power for University Education, Sandra Oblitas.
This educational center has seven areas: administration, teaching spaces, residences, events and conferences, dining and recreation, research and services.
“At this moment the University of Health Sciences has 42,794 students in all health careers: comprehensive community medicine, comprehensive community nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, among others,” reported the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
The Latin American School of Medicine “Dr. Salvador Allende” (ELAM) of Venezuela, was a project initiated by presidents Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez in 2005 under the premise of training health professionals at the service of the most humble.
