The MIM Fair is launched!

On a space of 6,000 square meters bringing together more than 120 exhibitors, the Salon MIM opened its doors this Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in Tangier for its 19th editing. The show was inaugurated by the Wali of the Tanger-Tetouan-Al region. Hoceima, Mr. Mohamed Mhidia and the President of AMITH, Mr. Anass El Ansari, in presence of the Governor of the Fahs-Anjra region, Mr. Abdelkhalek Marzouki, of the Chairman of the Council of the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Mr. Omar Moro, from President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the region Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, Mr. Abdellatif Afilal, the Mayor of the city of Tangier, Mr. Mounir Laymouri, Director General of the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN), Mr. Mounir El Bouyoussfi, the Chairman of the Board communal of Tangier, Mr. Mounir Laymouri, the President of the prefectural council of the Tangier-Asilah region, Mr. Mohamed EL Hmidi, the President of the Chamber of trade, industry and services in the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Mr. Abdellatif Afailal as well as representatives of chambers of commerce of different European countries.

Organized by the Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing (AMITH), which represents the Moroccan textile-clothing industry for more than 60 years, this 19th edition is held in Tangier, to highlight the potential of Moroccan textiles in general, and textiles from the region of Tangier in particular, Tangier occupying a major place in the industrial fabric Moroccan. The MIM exhibition thus benefited from the support of numerous partners of the region, such as the Wilaya, the Council of the TTA region, the CCISTTA, the town hall of Tanger, TMSA, l’APDN and ERUM Maroc.

This 19th edition of the MIM Fair is placed under the theme “Dayem”, which means sustainable in arabic. A theme that emphasizes social sustainability and environmental impact of the textile industry in Morocco, clear competitiveness issues in the current global context.

It is also a national and international platform for promoting Moroccan textile production. The 19th edition thus highlights cooperatives of the North region in a space dedicated to the presentation of artisanal and ancestral know-how of this region. In addition, a space Creators, designed by CMA (Casablanca Fashion Academy) is dedicated to young Moroccan fashion designers, four of whom are from the Tangier region.

MIM (Maroc en Mode) aims to support the growth and transformation of the Moroccan textile and clothing sector by establishing strategic partnerships. Thus, the show saw the conclusion of a protocol of cooperation between AMITH and its counterpart association in Portugal, ATP. This cooperation protocol, signed by Mário Jorge Machado, President of the ATP, and Anass El Ansari, President of AMITH, aims to promote the sustainable ramp-up of textile and clothing players in the two countries for that they can together provide solutions that can serve better, not only their traditional markets, but also the potential markets and new growth markets.

Since 1960, the Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing Industries is the state consultation and collaboration institution in the design and the execution of enabling policies, programs and instruments that lead to the socio-economic development of the sector and the country.

From training to promotion throughout the Kingdom and internationally, AMITH integrates environmental and social governance standards into all of its procedures and actions. She works every day to support its members in their development process and of improvement.
