Inauguration of iCube, ANSES’s animal health infectiology platform | handles

The ANSES de Maisons-Alfort Animal Health Laboratory studies infectious and contagious animal diseases. A reference at national and international levels, the laboratory covers all fields of infectiology, and has carried out crucial missions in animal health and public health for 115 years.

To strengthen the infectiology system on the Maisons-Alfort campus and scientific collaboration with other laboratories specializing in infectiology in Ile-de-France (EnvA, Inra, Inserm, Institut Pasteur), ANSES has acquired iCube , a level 3 containment infectiology platform. This device has benefited from the financial support of the Ile-de-France Region (through the areas of major interest concerning infectious diseases DIM MALINF).

The iCube platform, dedicated to the study and manipulation of highly pathogenic animal viruses, will allow further work on the foot-and-mouth disease virus, for which ANSES holds the national reference mandate and a reference mandate for the goose. Building with a high level of security, the iCube platform allows the manipulation of any emerging pathogen, in particular transmitted by insects or ticks. With iCube, France is equipping itself, in Ile-de-France, with an excellent system for combating major emerging and re-emerging diseases that can affect humans and animals, for diagnosis, monitoring and prevention, right through to treatment.

iCube is a major asset for ANSES in order to continue to carry out its research and reference work, as part of the ” One HealthOne Health” promoted jointly by the World Organization for Human Health (WHO) and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), and with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO ).
