ALGIERS – The Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid, inaugurated on Saturday in Algiers a data center, bringing together all the information and data available at the level of the directorates and organizations under supervision.
The inauguration of this new structure, installed at the ministry’s headquarters, took place in the presence of the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki, and the High Commissioner for Digitization with the rank of minister, Meriem Benmouloud , and the governor of the Bank of Algeria, Salah-Eddine Taleb, as well as senior officials of the ministry.
This data center will bring together, for the first time, the data available at the various digital platforms relating to the various departments of the ministry and general directorates of the sector, in particular taxes, customs and domains.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Faid said that this data center was developed at the level of the Ministry of Finance by national skills having developed its various applications.
“Completed within a period not exceeding six (06) months, the data center of the Ministry of Finance is part of the implementation of the digitization program of the Finance sector,” underlined Mr. Faid, adding that its inauguration is part of a context of digital transformation requiring appropriate infrastructure to manage data “securely and efficiently”.
“Thanks to this center, we will be able to strengthen security, protect sensitive data and improve the quality of services provided to citizens and economic partners,” he said.
This project, he said, also coincides with the implementation of the information systems strategic plan of the Ministry of Finance for the period 2024-2028, as well as the continuation of the digitalization of public services and the reduction of effects of bureaucracy.
For his part, the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki, spoke of the mission of his ministerial department aimed at providing the necessary infrastructure for the deployment of information and communications technologies (ICT) aimed at supporting projects like this data center.
Mr. Faid also underlined that Algeria has experienced significant development in this sector, contributing to the modernization of public services and the improvement of the country’s financial governance, particularly for the benefit of citizens and economic operators.
