It’s official! After test flights to Franceville, FlyGabon will officially launch its activities on August 31 with an inaugural flight whose destination has not yet been revealed but with lower prices than those currently practiced, according to an official press release received by the editorial staff of Gabonactu.com

FlyGabon, the national flag, will begin operations with a first commercial flight scheduled for August 31, 2024. By eventually serving all provinces of Gabon and introducing an attractive fare range, FlyGabon is part of the government’s strategy to revitalize the Gabonese air transport sector, as well as strengthen connectivity across the country.

The emergence of the national flag FlyGabon is reconfiguring the landscape of air transport in Gabon. The Gabonese Republic has acquired, through the holding company Fly Gabon Holding, the majority of the capital of the airline Afrijet. Afrijet now operates under two distinct brands: FlyGabon for domestic routes and Afrijet for regional flights.

FlyGabon, which will offer trips to all national provinces in order to open up the interior of the country, improve the mobility of citizens and stimulate economic exchanges, will make its first flight on Saturday, August 31, 2024. To achieve these objectives, FlyGabon is offering a new attractive fare range, particularly targeting families, students and seniors.

New price range and promotional rates

FlyGabon introduces a new fare range with special discounts for different categories of travelers:

– Families: 10% discount on round trips for families of at least 5 people including 2 adults and 3 children, with an additional 20% discount for children.

– Students and high school students: 15% discount on round-trip tickets.

– Seniors: 20% reduction on round-trip tickets.

Promotional one-way launch prices are also offered for domestic routes to Port-Gentil (70,800 FCFA including tax), Oyem (79,800 FCFA including tax) and Franceville (97,800 FCFA including tax). The new FlyGabon tickets are available for purchase as soon as the merchant website goes online on Saturday, August 17, as well as in Afrijet and FlyGabon agencies, for a first travel date of August 31, 2024.

FlyGabon and the promise of developmentt

After the disappearance of Air Gabon a few years ago, the creation of FlyGabon is a real source of pride for our nation.”, said Nyl Moret-Mba, CEO of Afrijet. “This launch marks a significant revival in the Gabonese air sector and offers an opportunity to revive and boost air transport. With FlyGabon, we will serve the country’s 9 provinces, as soon as the airport infrastructure is modernized and up to commercial transport standards and thus significantly participate in the efforts to open up while having a pricing policy that contributes to the fight against the high cost of living.”

While FlyGabon will initially focus on the domestic market, the national flag will expand beyond Gabonese borders with the aim of launching a connection to Johannesburg, South Africa, by Airbus A320, by the end of 2024.

To ensure quality service, FlyGabon will put two ATR 72-600s into service. The second of these two aircraft will be integrated into the fleet by the end of September. These aircraft, with a capacity of 72 passengers, are renowned for their reliability and performance, particularly suited to local conditions. This strategic choice will ensure regular and punctual service on all proposed routes.
