Beaten by Teddy Riner at the World Judo Championships in Doha, the Russian Inal Tasoev was finally declared world champion of +100 kg. If Teddy Riner retains his title, the International Federation recognizes his mistake.

The International Judo Federation repairs the broken pots. The body has just announced in a communiqué that the Russian Inal Tasoev would be gold medalist of the last judo world championship category over 100 kilos, together with Teddy Riner, crowned that day.

“After a thorough analysis by experts, according to the current arbitration rules, a score might have been awarded for Inal Tasoev’s counterattack. Therefore, the International Judo Federation declares the two athletes as winners of the contest and awards a gold medal and corresponding ranking points to Inal Tasoev.”

The International Federation had recognized its error

As a reminder, in the golden score, the Russian, under a neutral banner, had brought down the French on a counter of harai-goshi (leg movement). Neither the referee nor the central table had given any value. Seconds later, Riner threw his opponent on his back to seal his 11th world championship title.

But three days later, the International Federation recognized a mistake. She should have given a value on the action of the Russian. She makes up for it by giving him a gold medal, like the Frenchman. Russia therefore ends this World Cup with two titles for men.
