As regards fatal cases, the reports presented to the Institute in the first quarter of 2024 were 191, five fewer than the 196 recorded in the first quarter of 2023 and 21 fewer than in 2019, 25 more than in 2020, six more than 2021 and two more for 2022. At a national level, the data always highlights for the first quarter of the year compared to the same period of 2023, despite the provisional nature of the numbers, an increase in cases occurring at work, which went from 148 to 151, and a decrease in those on the move, from 48 to 40.

The decrease concerned the Agriculture management (from 20 to 18) and the State Account (from 8 to 4), while Industry and services went from 168 to 169 fatal reports. Furthermore, the reports of occupational disease registered by INAIL in the first quarter of 2024 were 22,620, 4,456 more than in the same period of 2023 (+24.5%). Pathologies of the osteo-muscular system and connective tissue, those of the nervous system and of the ear continue to represent the first three occupational diseases reported, followed by respiratory system pathologies and tumors.
