INAI requests that Financiera para el Bienestar report on remittances received by Mexico

MEXICO CITY (El Universal).— Financiera para el Bienestar must publish information on the number of people who received remittances and related operations, broken down by municipality, state and amount, instructed the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI).

One person requested this information from Financiera para el Bienestar, in addition to the number of cards issued by state and municipality and the contracts signed for this purpose, as well as the place of origin of the remittances received, amount and number of operations.

In its response, the obliged subject provided incomplete information. The person filed a complaint with the Inai and this Institute, in a case processed by the report of Commissioner Blanca Lilia Ibarra Cadena, instructed a new search to be carried out in all the competent areas, including the Commercial Directorate of the Branch Network and the Directorate of the Strategic Intelligence Unit.

“The information obtained from public entities is an irreplaceable input so that citizens have certainty about the decisions that public servants adopt, as well as to influence their development and application.

“It is important to know the decisions that are related to the provision of services that are essential for a dignified life, and Mexican society has in the INAI a technical and impartial body that guarantees this right to know,” the commissioner said.
