INAC lifts suspension of flights to Sucre and Nueva Esparta

Venezuela’s National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) reported on Tuesday, July 2, that it had lifted the suspension of flights to Porlamar (Nueva Esparta), Cumaná and Carúpano (Sucre) that it had established due to Hurricane Beryl causing strong winds and storm surges. The suspension is only temporarily maintained for flights to Los Roques due to remaining cloud cover and wind gusts.

The agency said that these measures were preventive and temporary to ensure operational safety in this area.

For its part, the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA) suspended the departure of fishing, recreational, sports and passenger vessels in the eastern zone, coastal center and Venezuelan Caribbean Sea. from Sunday, July 1st. The measure remains in effect until Tuesday, July 2.

Floods in Sucre and Nueva Esparta due to the passage of Hurricane Beryl

The eastern and northern coastal areas of Venezuela have been affected by the passage of Hurricane Beryl. The Vice President for Citizen Security, Remigio Ceballos, reported on July 2 that the rainfall in Cumanacoa, Sucre state, caused the overflow of the Manzanares River.

According to reports on social media, roads were flooded and several homes and vehicles were affected in different sectors of the state.

The governor of Sucre state, Gilberto Pinto, said that the sectors with the most damage due to the rising river are: La Fragua, the Blanco neighborhood, José Antonio de Sucre Avenue, Las Tinajitas, Trincheras, Los Cedros and Palenque.

Pinto also announced the temporary closure of access to Cumanacoa from Cumaná and Monagas state.

So far, the authorities have not offered a scale on the losses caused by the overflow of the river in the communities of Cumanacoa.

Residents of Nueva Esparta state have also reported flooding and strong winds in different regions of Margarita Island. due to the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

In addition, according to reports from users on X (Twitter), some areas have been without electricity since the evening of Monday, July 1.

Rain forecast for Venezuela

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh) reported in its daily bulletin that Venezuela will maintain cloudy conditions and rain with electrical discharges due to the passage of Hurricane Beryl off the country’s coast.

According to the forecast, the agency predicts rapidly evolving convective nuclei that will generate rain and showers with occasional electrical discharges in much of the country, being more intense and frequent in the north of Guayana Esequiba, Bolívar, northern Amazonas, as well as in the Capital District, La Guaira, Miranda, Aragua, Monagas, Sucre, Anzoátegui, western Guárico, Apure, Barinas, the Andes and Zulia.

After noon and in the early evening, rainfall will be of moderate intensity and with electrical discharges in areas of Essequibo Guayana, Amazonas, Bolívar, northern Monagas, Sucre, Yaracuy, western and central plains, Lara and the Andes.

Inameh said that at 6:00 am on July 2, Hurricane Beryl, currently Category 5, was located 430 kilometers north of La Guaira.
