The prosecutor released the details of the case on Wednesday.
The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported that two air traffic controllers from the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (Inac) will be prosecuted, since they revealed confidential State information.
These are G. González and D. Rodríguez, who were arrested in May 2020.
In a speech, William Saab indicated that the coordinator of the Inac Air Traffic Work Area filed a complaint with the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) against González, for having published information of a strictly confidential nature.
During the investigation carried out by the Public Ministry, it was found that González, during the month of April 2020, made publications on his public Twitter account with confidential information that put the security of the nation at risk.
In this sense, González revealed photographs and videos referring to aircraft, both civil and military, some that were carrying out State missions when they arrived or were preparing to take off, from the Air Traffic Control Tower of the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, to which he had access by reason of his work.
The director of the Inac Air Navigation Services also filed a complaint against Rodríguez for his alleged involvement with González in these illegal actions.
Saab specified that Rodríguez had on his phone an operational report of the Venezuelan air navigation services, images of spaces at the Simón Bolívar International Airport, reviews of the functions and management of air traffic.
It revealed that this information had been shared with a third party via email in September 2019.
The Attorney General pointed out that for these actions González was charged with the crimes of disclosure of confidential information, terrorism and association; while Rodríguez is being tried for the crimes of disclosure of confidential information and association.
In this sense, he specified that this case is in the trial phase pending the evacuation of four pieces of evidence.
