TELEVISION – Each season of “Top chef” knows his mid-term brigade rebalancing. And this year, it was Sébastien who paid the price. First recruited in the blue brigade of Philippe Etchebest, the young man of 26 years now displays purple headlines, since he has just joined the brigade of Paul Pairet. We explain the reasons for this choice.
In the 8th episode broadcast this Wednesday April 6 on M6, great names in gastronomy followed one another: the Catalan chefs Oriol Castro and Eduard Xatruch for a first test around an extraordinary cooking of a fruit and the legendary Pierre Gagnaire for a test on the creation of salty meringues. After these two completely new rounds and the formidable last chance, this week involving a single bite tasted blind by Hélène Darroze, Wilfried left the doors of the competition. But this departure was not the only highlight of this new prime.
Sébastien, new purple recruit
While he was still the only leader to have kept his three candidates, Philippe Etchebest was forced to part with one of them. If for him, this decision was not easy to make, he first wanted to congratulate his three cooks for their work. “I’m proud of my three guys. They did a great job,” he said.
After a few moments of reflection, the hour of the choice fell. “There is one who is starting, in any case, to give what I expected of him”, he explained before adding: “I am thinking of you Sébastien, and I tell myself that with Paul , you will be able to express yourself differently and I hope in any case that it will bring you a lot”. Facing the camera, the Bordeaux chef indicated that the young man “is starting to come out of his chrysalis” and thinks he “will take off” with Paul Pairet.
When the name of the candidate was announced, Paul Pairet did not hide his joy. “In my arms Sébastien!”, he shouted on the set before the northerner jumped into his arms. If he says he is “very happy to welcome him” to his brigade, “with open arms, literally and figuratively”, Chef Pairet already believes in his new recruit. “He’s a really good cook. I think he can be an asset in my squad and that we can go very far”.
Sébastien therefore finds Lilian, the only survivor of the purple brigade following the successive eliminations of Logan and Ambrose. The new duo had already worked together during the emblematic event of the restaurant war. Unfortunately for them, they had not been able to open the doors of their establishment whose theme was 100% vegetable. A disappointment for the two cooks who hope to stay as long as possible in the competition.
