In Togo, Arcep puts fair pressure on telecom operators – Jeune Afrique

For three years, the sanctions have been falling, accompanied by some hefty fines. From now on, the injunctions of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts (Arcep) – which took over from the former authority of industry regulations in October 2020 – are no longer taken lightly by mobile operators and internet service providers (ISPs).

On March 14, Arcep also initiated new sanction proceedings once morest Moov Africa Togo (MAT), a subsidiary of the Maroc Telecom group, and once morest Togo Cellulaire (TGC), the former public operator which, since its privatization in 2019, has become, like Togo Telecom, a subsidiary of the Togocom holding company, 51% of whose shares are held by the Malagasy conglomerate Axian, and 49% by the State. The grievances relate to the still failing quality of services, despite the various arrests addressed by Arcep, which intends to maintain pressure on the two mobile telephone operators until they remedy ces shortcomings.
