Gallup Korea Survey Results
President Yoon’s approval rating at the lowest level since taking office
President Yoon Seok-yeol’s approval rating fell to the lowest level since taking office.
According to Gallup Korea on the 30th, 24% of respondents said that President Yoon was doing a good job, and 65% said he was doing it wrong. Compared to last week’s survey, the positive evaluation fell by 4 percentage points, and the negative evaluation increased by 4 percentage points. It is the second time following the first week of August that the approval rate for President Yoon’s job recorded 24% in a Gallup poll. This is the lowest level since taking office.
The negative evaluators of job performance were ‘diplomacy’ (17%), ‘lack of experience, qualifications, incompetence’ (13%), ‘negligence in speech’ (8%), ‘not considering the economy and people’s livelihood’ (7%), ‘overall Mistakes’, ‘untruthfulness/lack of trust’ (more than 6%), ‘lack of communication’, and ‘personnel’ (more than 5%) were cited as reasons.
The reasons for the positive evaluation were ‘diplomacy’ (8%), ‘work hard, do your best’, ‘do well in general’ (more than 7%), ‘overcome the previous regime’ (6%), ‘fairness, justice, principle’ ‘, ‘for the sake of the people’, ‘truth, honesty, no lies’ (more than 4%). ‘Don’t know, refusal to answer’ was 23%.
When asked whether this trip to Britain, the United States, and Canada helped the national interest of our country, 54% said it was not helpful. Reasons that were not helpful were ‘no real benefit or performance’ (18%), ‘Late condolence time, no condolences’ (16%), ‘frivolous remarks, vulgar language, vulgar language’ (12%), ‘degrading national dignity’, ‘Lack of planning/preparation’ (more than 7%), ‘Only controversy and noise’ (5%), ‘frequent mistakes’ (4%), ‘attitude problem’, ‘short time to interview Biden’ (more than 3) %) and so on.
On the other hand, 33% rated it as helpful, for reasons such as ‘the trip itself is meaningful’ (20%), ‘meeting between leaders’ (14%), ‘expanding diplomacy and exchanges’ (10%), ‘promoting national prestige and promoting the country’ ‘ (7%), ‘attendance to funerals and condolences’ (6%), and ‘economic help, export, and investment attraction’ (5%).
The survey was conducted with 1,000 adults nationwide from the 27th to the 29th. The margin of error of the survey is ±3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level. Wireless (90%) and landline (10%) telephone interviews were conducted, and the response rate was 11.2%.
