Al-Marsad newspaper: The report of the “Yahla” program sheds light on a Saudi family in Dammam who was surprised by the issuance of a water bill of 400,000 riyals.
The woman, Fadia Al-Fawwaz, who was affected by the water company bills, said: “The first water bill was 400,000 riyals, and the amount was reduced to 250,000 riyals.”
The report indicated: “Seven years ago, Fadia and her family lived in this house. All these years, the water bill did not reach them,” noting: “When the water company decided to issue their first bill, the family’s shock was great, as it turned out that the total amount of the bill was 400,000 riyals.”
Al-Fawaz explained: “We were stunned to absorb the amount, and we said sure something was wrong,” noting: “We checked with the company because the invoices did not reach us, and we told them that the amount was huge.”
And she continued: “After conducting a complete examination of the house by the water company, to ensure that there are no leaks, the company decided to reduce the amount to 250 thousand riyals.”
And she continued, “We went to a body specialized in the mechanism of water analysis. We discovered several errors in the billing, and we knew the actual amount of water estimated to us.”
And she concluded: “It turns out that our consumption is between 40 and 50 meters, which is equivalent to 120 riyals per month, and the amount has been reduced to 18,000 riyals.”
