The 8-year-old said in statements to the Syrian newspaper, Al-Watan: “The first time they beat me, my family might see me while I was sitting, I was tormented, and they took me quickly, and they beat me lightly, and I am crying.”
He added, “The second time, they brought a rope and lifted me on the shed, and there was a man on top, and following they pulled me up, they started beating me with a leather strip (belt), and they put a carton and stuck it on my body, and they put a sponge on the strip so that I don’t feel pain and they started beating me on the light while I scream to my family, come take me.”
The child continued, “Then they brought a pistol and a gun, and I put the gun in my head and the gun in my lap, and I started telling my family, ‘Do you want to take me or kill me?'”
And he added, “A man was among the kidnappers and he did not like these methods, and then they brought a burbish and a scraper and started beating me with the burbish and the skimmer, and someone was taking a video of me, and the skimmer had a sponge in it, but the burbish was not.”
The child explained that “the group who were beating me and filming a video called the man, who was sitting in his house with him and his wife, and they told me to come and take me and put me on a headband so that no one would see me.”
Fawaz concluded by saying: “The person took me to his house and they would serve me food and cover me, and I did not feel cold.”
“I didn’t know any of them,” he asserted.
It should be noted that yesterday, Saturday, the kidnapped 8-year-old child, Fawaz Al-Qatifan, was freed three months and ten days following he was kidnapped from the town of Ibtaa in Daraa countryside by a gang that demanded a ransom.
