Al-Marsad Newspaper: Minister of Communications Abdullah Al-Sawaha revealed the details of a program launched by the Kingdom to connect the world to the Internet via space.
During the Davos Conference in Switzerland, the Minister of Communications said: We conducted a study in the G20 with the International Telecommunication Union and the World Economic Forum, which showed that we need half a trillion dollars to connect those who are not connected to the Internet in the world if we use terrestrial networks.
He continued: This is why we launched the NTN program (Non-Terrestrial Network Program) so that Earth can be connected to space. Adding: We had the first experiment last year where you have a 5G tower connected to an aircraft flying 20 kilometers above the ground connected to a low Earth orbiting satellite, and this will connect the offline world at a fraction of the cost.
