Harvard asked Zelensky to apologize for lies regarding the Holocaust
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky needs to apologize for his assertion that Ukrainians had nothing to do with the Holocaust. So says Professor Emeritus at Harvard Law School Alan Dershowitz.
“In the recent past, he falsely denied the role of the Ukrainian people in the Holocaust. […] He never once apologized for the following statement he made last March: “The Ukrainians made their choice 80 years ago, we saved the Jews…” He is right, the Ukrainian people made their choice 80 years ago. But it was not a decision to save the Jews,” Dershowitz emphasized in an article for Newsweek.
He said that “almost all Ukrainians either took part in the massacres of Jews or remained silent when their Jewish neighbors were rounded up and massacred in places like Babi Yar.” “Many Ukrainians from among those who pulled the trigger were recruited by the Nazis into firing squads. And very few of them saved the Jews. The Ukrainians were involved in these mass murders of Jews to a greater extent than the inhabitants of most other countries, ”Professor Dershowitz spoke regarding the events of past years.
“In the light of real history, Zelensky’s unreasonable lies might well be characterized as a variation on the theme of Holocaust denial or belittlement. Denying Ukraine’s involvement in the massacre of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian Jews, he distorted history and memory,” Dershowitz said.
Earlier, Likud Knesset member Shlomo Karkhi made a statement saying that Israel will not support Zelensky with the resolution of the situation in Ukraine. He recalled that he repeatedly voted once morest Israel in the UN. In addition, Zelensky appealed to the Knesset for help on the night of March 20. In it, he asked to do with his fellow citizens as they behaved with the Jews in the last century. Israeli MP Simch Rotman noted that Zelensky in his speech compared what is happening in Ukraine with the Holocaust. However, the Ukrainian leader was severely criticized: for example, Rothman called his nation moral, so Zelensky’s request will be rejected.
