Late Swedish collector’s picture from the 1950s.
As a true Djurgården, Lasse Björn was a role model and an idol in his youth at the end of the 50s. Lasse was born on December 16, 1931 and passed away in August 2024. He formed a back pair with Ronald “Rolle” Stoltz in both Djurgården and the national team. Both were popular and you couldn’t help but like them. It was not only for their efforts on the ice but also off the rink. Rolle Stolta became especially popular when, among other things, he appeared a lot on radio and TV.
I unfortunately never got to meet these legendary players, it would probably have been a special experience to get their autographs even if others like Tumba ended up in the now-disappeared autograph block.
You can still collect all sorts of things, and collectible pictures in particular are something wonderful. Lasse Björn there are probably 4–5 in the A 4 binder with Djurgården, Rolle Stolta maybe twice as many.
There are probably few or none left of the Tre Kronor that took WC gold in 1953, Sweden’s first. Lasse Björn was also in the second one in 1957. I was too young to remember exactly those events, but Lasse Björn later became a given pasted image in the idol album. There were also other great sports legends from above all the early 60s, Sven Tumba, Ove Jonsson, Hasse Alsér, IngemarJohansson, Pelé, the WC gold in ice hockey in Colorado Springs, Sixten Jernberg… There are probably many more but these are some of those that I immediately drew mgi to memory.
Today we have other popular athletes such as Duplantis, Ståhl, Sjötröm and Möregårdh to note a quartet from the just concluded Olympics.
Everyone is a child of their time
Lasse Björn, just the name says a lot and even though he is now gone from earthly life, he remains on the retina.
