In the quarterfinals of the Copa America there are mostly teams from the south of the continent

The group stage of the Copa América USA 2024 has ended and starting this Thursday, July 4, the quarterfinals will begin, with the majority of teams from the south of the continent.

Six of the eight qualifiers are teams that compete in the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol): Venezuela, Argentina, Ecuador, Uruguay, Brazil and Colombia. The other two are Canada and Panama, from the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Football (Concacaf).

La Vinotinto, La Albiceleste and La Celeste were leaders of their respective groups with three wins and full points. Colombians and Brazilians also finished the first round undefeated, although the Colombians had two wins and a draw, while the Cariocas finished with one victory and two draws.

Cruces

The Venezuelan team, first in Group B, will face the second in Group A, in this case Canada. The match will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on July 5th starting at 9:00 pm (Venezuela time).

The day before, Argentina and Ecuador will face each other at the NRG Stadium in Houston. The winner of this tie and the winner of the aforementioned tie will face each other in the semi-finals on the 9th of this month.

On the other side of the quarterfinals, Colombia and Panama will face each other on Saturday 6th at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona. That same day, but at the second hour, the big match of this stage will take place: Uruguay against Brazil at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Likewise, the winners of these matches will face each other in the semi-finals on the 10th of this month.
