It takes place today, in the presence of the Minister of Defense N. Dendias, the launch of “Newarchos”of the second FDI HN frigate – known as Belh@rra – of the “Kimon” class that is being built at Naval Group shipyards, in Lorient, France, on behalf of the Greek Navy. Mr. Dendias is accompanied by the Chief of GEETHA, General Dimitrios Houpis and the Chief General Vice Admiral Dimitrios – Eleftherios Kataras PN.
This is the second of the three FDI HN frigates, (Kimon, Nearchos and Formion) known as “Belharra”, of the Navy, which will join the Greek fleet in the coming years.
The frigate “Newarchos” has a displacement of 4,500 tons, a length of approximately 122 meters, with a maximum speed of 27 knotsa crew of 120 and incorporates advanced digital technologies.
These include, among others, the integrated sensor network PSIM (Panoramic Sensor Intelligence Module), where almost all of the warship’s sensor systems are gathered, the advanced anti-submarine warfare sonar, type CAPTAS-4 and the full digital Sea Fire radar.
