The book “In the Narrative Workshop” by Shaker Al-Anbari (Najma Publications) reflects the writer’s aesthetic vision in the novel, and his experience in it, the experience that has produced thirteen novels to date, as well as his personal life, the sources of his culture, and the most important stages in his creative career. Syndrome of the Motherland and Exile. The writer’s readings and aesthetic taste. Breaking out of the bondage of a single culture into the space of cultural pluralism through knowledge of more than one language, and contact with different social patterns, culturally, religiously, spatially and temporally.

The book contains two parts, the first is the interviews with the writer, and they have been conducted with him for the last fifteen years in the Iraqi and Arab press, i. Youssef Mohsen, Zainab Al-Mashat, Abdul-Jabbar Al-Atabi, Muhammad Al-Hujairi, Amer Al-Qaisi, Ahmed Al-Jammal, Amir Al-Khatib, Ashraf Al-Hassani, Ali Al-Sumari, Alaa Al-Mafarji. These interviews were published in the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Safir, Al-Hiwar Al-Motaddin, the Iraqi weekly, Al-Jarida Al-Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Mada Al-Iraqiya, Al-Sabah Al-Baghdadiya, the Syrian Tishreen, the Qatari Al-Jazeera, and the Lebanese website Al-Modon.

What does the writer say to the press? This is the question that puts a person to the test of his vision of his daily existence, and his philosophical and aesthetic contemplation of that existence. And the answers will certainly draw a detailed map for any writer.

While the second section dealt with the author’s critical views on Arab and foreign novels that he read and caught his attention, due to their stylistic specificity, wit in the subject, or daring in presenting the characters and the atmosphere. It can be said that it was selective, sometimes unplanned money, but came within special circumstances that depended on the time, place, and mood of the reading. Then writings of opinion regarding literary phenomena pertaining to the Arab reader. Perhaps the most important of these is the issue of translation, the publishing house and the controls and motives that govern it, and the extent to which the Arab individual, and his cities in particular, are manifested in the published narrative works. Critical points of view dealt with Youssef Idris, the stories of Ibrahim Ahmed, and the novels of Marwan Yassin Al-Dulaimi, Donna Ghali, Ali Adnan, Hashem Matar, and Hamster Yusuf Al-Khidr. Zuhair Al-Jazaery, Al-Muhannad Haidar, Khalil Sweileh, Saba Matar, and Shaker Nouri. Akram Qutrib al-Suri, and the Iraqi writer Inaam Kachaji in her stories “The Land of Takh Takh”.

In addition to the above, there are literary reflections on the Arabic novel and its prospects in the twenty-first century, and the reason why readers love classic Russian literature, and the literature of alienation in global culture in the so-called golden cocoon.

Here it should be recalled that the cover painting is by the Iraqi artist Talib Hussein, who resides in Germany. The cover was designed by the young Syrian artist, Tim Khalil, who lives in Belgium. This e-book came with 205 pages of medium cut.
