On the second day of the Plenary Assembly of the Argentine Episcopal Conference (CEA), its head and Bishop of San Isidro, Oscar Ojea, asked “listen to those whom no one listens to«, amid the rise of the blue dollar and economic uncertainty, intensified in recent days.

During the second day of the Assembly of bishops that takes place in Pilar, Ojala recalled the words of Pope Francis and stressed the importanceof listening» of those excluded from society.

«Believing in the last term is a look that is born from listening, that is why listening is more important than looking. The act of seeing is more taxing, “said the bishop, in the context of the new financial and exchange crisis that the national economy is going through.

He further expressed that he listens to her «many times a call is made, it assaults us and surprises us“, so” we are defenseless before his arrival.

And he added: «this listening to be effective it must be done from below; with the humility of someone who recognizes in the other someone from whom one can learn, someone worthy of being listened to; from near; making us vulnerable due to the proximity to what the other wants to communicate to us and from within; since the true seat of listening is the heart».

Ojea specified that listening must be unconditional that, if it offers any privilege, «It is for those and those who nobody listens to«. “They are precisely those that Jesus wants us to listen to best,” he added.

A reference to Pope Francis and his “dialogue with young people”

Regarding Pope Francis, he said that “he puts these attitudes into practice in his dialogue with young people in the documentary `Amen, Francis responds`»where he is seen “entering the conversation in which boys and girls are already sharing, the Pope joins the conversation as one more.”

and raised that “The Pope is concerned with empathizing with the interlocutor, he begins by valuing in them what he can value and then calmly expresses the thought of the Church without impositions.”

The CEA Plenary Assembly will be held in the traditional “El Cenáculo” Retreat House, in the Buenos Aires town of Pilar, until next Friday, when it is expected to issue a document on the country’s economic situation, in a campaign context electoral.
