In the fall, teachers will be offered national professional development programs

First of all, they will be offered to teachers teaching mathematics and life skills, as well as to all educators who want to deepen their competences in inclusive education. A significant part of the program in these programs will consist of internships. The duration of the national qualification program is 135-270 hours, of which 30% will be allocated to practice. up to 50 percent

Teacher training centers, higher education institutions and accredited professional development institutions are invited until May 31. develop national qualification improvement programs in three areas – inclusion, mathematics and life skills – and submit them to the National Education Agency. Long-term national qualification improvement programs are being prepared for the first time.

Mathematics, life skills and inclusive education are the first areas to be invited to develop and deliver new qualification development programmes. After the implementation of these programs, it will be proposed to prepare national programs in other areas. The programs will be prepared according to the priority areas of qualification improvement determined by the ministry. This is the strengthening of digital, inclusion competencies, civic education, subject education practice and didactics, and leadership competencies.

“National qualification improvement programs will help teachers, educational support specialists, school leaders deepen their professional competences, prepare them to work better according to the updated programs of general education, strengthen existing competences or acquire new ones.

We hope that the new programs will also meet high quality expectations”, says Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports Ramūnas Skaudžius.

The prepared national programs will be accredited by the application evaluation commission established by the Minister of Education, Science and Sports. The implementation of the programs will be financed with the funds of the European Union’s economic recovery and resilience enhancement tool “NextGenerationEU”.
