Citizens of Latvia and citizens of other European Union member states who have reached the age of 18 on election day have the right to participate in elections.
On election day, polling stations will be open from 8:00 to 20:00 local time. To vote, you need a valid Latvian citizen’s passport or identity card (eID card).
Voters have the right to choose any polling station in Latvia or abroad without prior application. The list of polling stations is available on the website of the Central Election Commission.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges you to remember that the opportunity to vote by mail is available only to those Latvian voters who are abroad. You can apply to vote by mail until May 31, using the electronic service “Voter Data Management” (Vēlētāja datu pārvaldība) on the Public Administration Services portal.
In the electronic service, the voter has the opportunity to familiarize himself with information regarding the voting procedure, download voting materials and select a ballot that corresponds to the list of candidates for whom the voter wishes to vote. The voter must print out election materials, make a choice and send the vote to the Riga precinct commission for voting by mail.
