In the second half, he even increased the lead to eight hits. The guests did manage to dramatize the match, but the last minutes once once more belonged to Jičín, who closed the regular part with a 37:29 victory.
The interesting part of the match: The outdoor suffering of Strakonic does not end. It’s been eleven months since they last won a competitive game on the opponent’s field.
Top Scorer: Home team Zdeněk Ježek scored ten goals, Adam Nejdl was not far behind with nine goals in the visitors’ jersey.
What the result means: Both teams will play for retention, Jičín finishes tenth in the regular season with 19 points and Strakonice eleventh with four wins.
Post-match comments:
Ondřej Šulc, coach of O2xyworld HBC Jičín: “I would definitely say that the result does not match the course of the match. We play in the formation we play in, we are missing seven players in the base, so we were forced to call up the guys from the reserve team, who did an excellent job. Of course, we were preparing all week for Strakonic’s extended defense, we were successful in that and thanks to that we created more space for the middle clutches. The cooperation with the pivot following the open system of defense also worked well for us. Of course, we mightn’t avoid unnecessary technical mistakes, which brought us down the whole season. Our mistakes brought the opponent back into the game a bit, but I’m glad that the boys managed it and secured the victory.”
Zdeněk Ježek, O2xyworld player HBC Jičín: “I have to say that Strakonice didn’t give us anything for free. I think it was a nice match for both the spectators and the players. I am definitely glad that it turned out to be a victory for our team, we wanted to end the regular season with a win, and we succeeded. Now we have to look to the next season, polish the shortcomings that brought us down this year, and next year it will be better.”
Michal Zbíral, coach of HBC JVP Strakonice 1921: “I congratulate the home team on their victory. I think it was such a fast, and above all goal game. Unfortunately for us, because we mightn’t fully concentrate, we mightn’t interrupt Jirko Dolejší so that he mightn’t play the ball to the pivot. We struggled in this passage, it caused us problems, and that was the reason why Jičín outplayed us relatively easily. Except for small stretches, Jičín didn’t have a problem with our game, we definitely need to improve that in the next matches. In the second half of the match, Adam Nejdl caught, so it was already good there, but still we did not fulfill what we said before the match. We wanted to play more on the wings, spread the game, and we just mightn’t do that. The wings didn’t get into the game at all, and then it was very difficult. The biggest problem was in defense, it was killing us and we mightn’t stop Jičín.
Adam Bernhard, player HBC JVP Strakonice 1921: “Congratulations to the opponent. I would say that we lost the match ourselves. We didn’t follow the coach’s instructions, we told ourselves what to do, but we didn’t succeed at all. From the beginning, we lost in the fights. Unfortunately, when we started losing by three to four goals, our performance went down. But I have to admit that in the second half we caught up and tried to get closer to Jičín with a difference of two to three goals, but as soon as we succeeded, our unnecessary mistakes came once more and Jičín outplayed us with its quality.”

The bison felled Frýdek-Místek
HC ROBE Zubří – Pepino SKP Frýdek-Místek 29:27 (19:13) | 3/9/2024
Most goals: Bajer 8, Přikryl 5, Kyryljuk 4 – Moješcik 8, Gřešek 5, Mlotek 3

Seven meter throws: 2/0 – 4/2

Breaking moments: An even match, the development of which often changed. At the end of the first half, the home team stepped into it and went into the cabins with a lead of six goals. Although they managed to increase this in the second half, the end of the match belonged to the guests, who started a chase, which, however, failed by two goals.
The interesting part of the match: Even though the home team dominated the first half with shots, they scored only ten times in the second and thus gave Pepin a chance to dramatize the duel.
Top Scorer: The two best scorers of the teams on both sides, i.e. Pavel Bajer and Alexandr Moješcik, had eight goals to their credit.
What the result means: Zubří enters the play-offs from sixth place and will face Lovosice, Frýdek-Místek will face a tough challenge in the form of Talent.
Post-match comments:
Peter Dávid, coach of HC ROBE Zubří: “I don’t understand how guys can’t understand that they have to play at a constant pace. It’s impossible for a goalkeeper to catch countless balloons, so if he didn’t catch this one, it would be a huge bummer. We gave our young players a chance and they started marching. I’m really upset regarding the second half, I imagined it differently. It stopped being dynamic and the audience didn’t enjoy it either. But winning counts.”
Štěpán Krůpa, HC ROBE Zubří player: “In a situation where it was clear that we would not move in any way in the table, it was difficult to find motivation, we wanted to win the match for the fans, and we succeeded. But we made it easier for Frýdka and they reduced the difference to two goals, we completely left the second half. With such a performance, it will be very difficult to beat Lovosice in the quarter-finals. What we have to take away from this is that we need to play for sixty, not thirty minutes.”
Daniel Valo, coach of Pepino SKP Frýdek-Místek: “Congratulations to the home team for the win. We didn’t give many clear chances and Zubří punished us with easy goals. We let them jump to seven or eight goals, and that’s hard to come by here.”
Mathias Choleva, player of Pepino SKP Frýdek-Místek: “The first half was decisive, we didn’t give many clear chances. We mightn’t defend the quick counterattacks of the Zubří.”

Post-match comments:
Michal Tonar, coach of HC Dukla Prague: “It was a very good match from our side, praise goes to the whole team. Everything we said before the game worked. I am very happy that our form has been improving since the match with Pilsen, that the defense is working and everything is going as it should. We are looking forward to the playoffs and the next opponent.”
Roman Jelínek, coach of HK FCC City of Lovosice: “We went into that game with the plan that we would certainly want to rotate the lineup and we would want to give space to players who may not be getting it as much to show us before the playoffs how they are doing, if in those playoff games they can get space. Some took that chance, others less so. But I am proud of the team and I think that even though we rotated the lineup, we stuck with Dukla. There were a few moments when we might have caught her, but we made a stupid mistake, or we didn’t convert the chance, so of course Dukla got away from us. So for us a loss that doesn’t mean anything, but it showed us a lot of things that either need to be worked on or that we are strong in.”
