She added, “The work team moved to (Yaji) district, and set up a tight ambush for the accused, and following stationing, monitoring, and making sure that he had received the bribe, he was caught red-handed.”
The authority stated that “the preliminary investigations conducted by the team indicated that the accused confessed to receiving a bribe, and that his action to blackmail citizens and take sums of money from them was in return for completing one of the tasks entrusted to him.”
And she noted, “The organization of a fundamental report, and its presentation, along with the accused, and the seized amount, to the investigating judge specialized in examining integrity cases in Kirkuk, who decided to detain him pending investigation, in accordance with the provisions of Article (307) of the Iraqi Penal Code.”
The head of the commission, Judge Haider Hanoun, urged, more than once, the staff of the directorate to monitor the level of services provided to citizens, and to ensure that they are not exposed to extortion, bargaining, or bribes during their visits to government departments, through field attendance and assuming their oversight role to the fullest.
