The City of Quebec announces its Fall Tree Distribution Day to be held on Saturday, September 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. This activity, which takes place twice a year, allows everyone to receive a tree free of charge, from a variety of species particularly adapted to the territory, as well as fruit trees.
Citizens are invited to participate in the greening of their living environment by planting a tree in their yard. In addition to beautifying the landscape, trees help increase the canopy. Residents of the Cité-Limoilou borough can go to the ExpoCité site, parking lot P7. The entrance is via the Avenue de l’Exposition. As the line can be long, it is recommended to arrive early enough (before 8:30 a.m.), if you wish to have the choice of the tree.
The following species will be offered: serviceberry, apple, pear, cedar, Amur phellodendron, heritage black birch. ‧ serviceberry, bog oak, Japanese lilac, American linden and ginkgo biloba.
The distribution is intended for citizens of Quebec only; proof of residency will be required. Only one tree will be distributed per property and per person, while supplies last.
Since 2008, more than 38,000 trees have been given free of charge to residents of Québec during tree distribution days. In particular, this makes it possible to achieve the city’s greening objectives and increase the canopy in urban areas. In the fall of 2020, the City announced additional investments of $30 million over seven years to reach the goal of 100,000 trees planted by 2027.
