Several inhabitants of Santa Fe de Antioquia were terrified when they observed the scene of a man running through the streets with the skull of a corpse in his hands, while shouting into the air.
According to the known version of the case, which occurred on Monday afternoon in broad daylight, the man, who suffers from schizophrenia, and apparently under the influence of hallucinogens, entered the local cemetery and desecrated at least one grave there.
He then threw a skull into a plastic bag and ran screaming with it through the streets. The macabre scene caused fear among the residents, who immediately called the Police.
Several troops responded to the call and intercepted the person, who opposed the uniformed men, but in the end he was immobilized and taken to a medical care center.
For the mayor of the historical and very religious population of western Antioquia, Felipe Pardo, the fact did not go unnoticed. He even spoke out about it and recommended that medical care is provided for the protagonist of the event, 27 years old.
“I understand the mental condition of the man, about whom we keep the identity out of respect for his humanity, who was immediately transferred to a specialized center for people suffering from mental disorders and receives due care from specialists with the accompaniment of our Ministry of Health. and the ESE Hospital San Juan de Dios,” said Pardo.
The president asked that the information be handled with respect and restraint and clarified that the person cannot be charged due to his mental condition. He even alluded to only one corpse to deny versions that spoke of the possible extraction of five corpses from various graves, according to versions published by some media outlets.
