In the next few years, sales of electric cars in the Russian Federation will be at record high levels, according to analysts at the consulting company Strategy Partners, Vedomosti writes.
In the base scenario, demand for electric vehicles will grow by an average of 38 percent annually. Thus, by 2033, the figure will reach 340 thousand cars per year, and the Russian fleet of electric cars will grow 47 times by the end of the decade, to 1.78 million units.
The optimistic forecast calls for sales growth of an average of 41 percent annually, up to 421 thousand cars in 2033. In this case, the fleet will grow 58 times and amount to almost 2.2 million electric cars.
In a conservative scenario, the market will grow by about 30 percent per year and will reach 191 thousand electric cars in 2033, with a total fleet size of 909 thousand cars, which will still be 24 times more than last year.
In the previous 8 years, the market for electric cars in the Russian Federation grew quite moderately – on average 2.3 times annually. By the end of 2023, it barely exceeded 37.8 thousand electric cars. The indicator corresponds to the levels of development of the markets of China, the USA and Europe 7-10 years ago.
