In Riga, the parks of the former Ebelshof estate and the Eichenheim orphanage have been tidied up

For pedestrians, paths made of concrete tiles and just gravel have been laid, 40 benches have been installed for those who rest, trash bins have appeared, stands for parking bicycles have been installed, and a new lighting system has been built.

The park now has two playgrounds, a place for gymnastics, and a drinking water tap.

There are also surveillance cameras installed on the lamp posts, so there is hope that the improvements will not deteriorate too quickly. But a lot also depends on how the park is maintained on a daily basis. Improvement and landscaping of the park will continue.

The tidying up and improvement of the park of the former Ebelshof estate began back in 2015, when 20-30-year-old chestnut trees were planted there, in 2016 five walnut trees were planted, and in 2017 work began on planting greenery along the perimeter of the park, then lighting was planned. Thus, gradually, the park of the former Ebelshof estate was put in order.

The old park near the former Eichenheim shelter on Duntes Street has also been improved.

There are 37 benches, 10 bike stands, five trash bins and two bins for “garbage” from walking pets. Work to put the area in order began in 2020.

There is also a book exchange cabinet on the park grounds. Anyone can take a book from it to read. Or leave a book on the shelf for other people to read.
