“It’s a vital project that will finally come to fruition! » Alain Tisseuil, mayor of Anac-Pompadour (Corrèze), does not hide his satisfaction at seeing the “crazy” bet come to fruition in this town of 1,100 inhabitants, known for its castle, the castle of a famous marquise and its racecourse.

At the beginning of 2026, a casino will open on the “Old Laundry” Square. On August 14, the city government signed a concession agreement with the casino operator PVG Group, which owns the Annecy Empire Casino. Nearly ten million euros will be invested to accommodate 75 slot machines and a bistronomic restaurant, and 30 jobs will be created.

“Their project will not compete with the well-run village breweries, they will use our village hall and help us financially to restore it,” Alain Tisseuil noted. The tax benefits are estimated at hundreds of thousands of euros.

The result of the mayor’s eight years of hard work

The windfall will make up for the gradual disengagement of the French Equestrian Institute (IFCE), a national institution, and the Pompadour National Stud, the pride of local heritage, following an eight-year battle by the mayor over whether Anac-Pompadour met the legal criteria for hosting a casino reserved for spa towns.

With the help of Laëtitia Saint-Paul, a Maine-et-Loire deputy, among others, the Saumur department succeeded in changing the law. From December 2023, casinos can be installed in “communes where horse racing companies have their headquarters and in historic sites of black cadres or national stud farms”. » The Corrèze Grand Prix is approaching.
