Around 9 a.m., around 100 people were gathered near Parliament, displaying the Canadian flag and other banners.
Several streets in the city center are closed to traffic until Sunday evening to prevent vehicles from driving and parking there.
The Ottawa Police Service also arrested seven protesters on Friday and seized 24 vehicles.
Friday evening, police officers equipped with helmets and batons intervened “to disperse an aggressive and combative crowd”, according to a press release from the Ottawa police.
On its Twitter account on Saturday, Ottawa police said some protesters were wearing protective gear.
“We remind all attendees to obey the law, remain respectful and follow police directions,” the post read.
We see freedom fighters wearing protective gear. We remind all participants to obey the law, remain respectful and follow the instructions of the police.#ottnouvelles https://t.co/adilS4n9dD

Veterans wearing army medals on their jackets were seen among the protesters. Former Canadian police and military officers had helped the truckers coordinate their action in the winter, which lasted more than three weeks and paralyzed Ottawa before being dismantled by law enforcement under emergency powers granted by the government Trudeau.
Earlier, investigators asked for the public’s help, in another Twitter post, to identify a woman “in connection with an incident with police on Rideau Street last night.”

On the sidelines of this rally, a counter-demonstration organized in particular by exacerbated residents was taking place at the same time.
Around 11:50 a.m., the Ottawa Police Service announced on Twitter that the rally was over.
The motorcycle rally is now over. Expect delays and a police presence as we work to reopen the roads. #ottawa
