The joint bid between Morocco, Spain and Portugal won the right to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, but the location and number of matches that each country will host have not yet been determined.

Morocco is betting on the “Grand Hassan II Stadium” to be one of the most prominent sports facilities within the framework of the file to host the 2030 World Cup matches, especially the final match that Spain wants to hold at the “Santiago Bernabeu” stadium in Madrid.

The Daily Mail newspaper revealed, on Thursday, new details regarding the construction of the “Grand Hassan II Stadium”, as it confirmed that Moroccan officials had commissioned specialized technical engineers, who had supervised the restoration of the famous “Old Trafford” stadium in Manchester, to design and build the new stadium.

The stadium, which will be built in the city of Benslimane, on the outskirts of Casablanca, is expected to accommodate 115,000 spectators, making it the largest in the world.

Construction of the stadium on a 100-hectare site north of Casablanca is due to begin in the near future after public funding was approved last year.

According to the Daily Mail, the British office “Populous” will supervise the stadium construction project.

The stadium will be designed to take into account traditional gatherings known as “al-Mawsem”, which will add a unique cultural character to the facility.

The British newspaper explained that the stadium’s roof will be made of a unique aluminum material, while each side of the huge stadium will accommodate 29,500 fans on three steeply sloping levels.

The stadium will also include a royal box and a passage leading to a number of gardens on elevated platforms, 28 metres above the ground.
