The Peruvian government announced that Monday (June 13) will be an official holiday in the public sector, because it is the day on which the Peruvian national team will play in the qualifying match for the World Cup “Qatar 2022”.

“It was decided that Monday would be a day off so that citizens might see their country’s team qualify for the World Cup in Qatar,” Culture Minister Alejandro Salas said in a press statement at dawn today, Saturday, explaining that the holiday will apply to the public sector, and the private sector will be able to implement it “optionally.” .

Salas explained that this decision, which was taken “unanimously” in the cabinet session held on Friday evening, was taken with the aim of “citizens to organize themselves and take to the streets to gather,” adding: “We consider it (the match) a national event and a national identity.”

The Peruvian national team arrived Friday in Doha, coming from Barcelona, ​​where it trained in the past few days, and was greeted by fans who arrived in the Qatari capital before the important match it is playing.

The Peruvian national team will train at Al Sadd Stadium to determine the final details in an attempt to qualify for the World Cup for the second time in a row, following participating in the World Cup in Russia 2018.

The match between Australia and Peru will be held on Monday at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha, at 21:00 Al-Quds Al-Sharif time.
