In order to save money, benefits for the poor were sharply reduced in Rezekne

Two benefits have been temporarily excluded from the list of benefits of the Rezekne municipality – care for a newborn and guardianship.

The local government draws attention to the fact that recipients of these benefits have the right to benefits and allowances established by the state, the payment of which is ensured by the State Social Insurance Agency.

The social service explains that the decision on changes in social support was made to ensure the fulfillment of the basic functions of self-government, taking into account the current financial situation. The changes took effect on April 25.

At the same time, food benefits for children with disabilities will be maintained.

In the future, social events will not be organized in Rezekne on Easter and Christmas, during which low-income residents of the city might receive lunch at a shelter. The soup kitchen will remain open.

Rezekne municipality continues to provide nutritional benefits for schoolchildren from low-income or low-income families, fully covering the cost of meals in municipal schools and preschool educational institutions. The benefit is assigned and paid by the social service.

The local government has stopped providing support for hygiene and healthcare services. Expenses for bath services and medical rehabilitation will not be covered. Thus, pensioners, people with disabilities, low-income and low-income people will have to pay entirely themselves for visiting the bathhouse.

Social services will continue to provide showering and laundry and drying services. They can be received by low-income or low-income city residents, pensioners and adults with disabilities. Both services can be obtained at the social service, at Zemnieku Street 16A, and at the shelter at Bukmuizas Street 3 – just use the shower. Services are provided for a fee.
