In mourning for her husband, she discovers that he killed his first wife

Already grieving for her husband, a woman recently received a disturbing call from a distant acquaintance.

Three days after the death of her life partner, the phone rang at Susan Francis. The inebriated man sowed his lot of questions about the deceased, Wayne, in his imagination.

“He was saying some really disturbing things. He was asking me why I married my husband,” the Australian told Insight.

Telling herself that he was just a hot guy, she focused her energies on funeral preparations. But the intriguing call eventually made its way into his mind.

Susan then decided to call Wayne’s mother to question her. The latter burst into tears while telling him about an episode of domestic violence.

Upset, she confessed to him that Wayne had killed his wife in Papua New Guinea when he was 22.

From what the widow learned, Wayne was initially charged with murder, then the charge was reduced to manslaughter. He served three years in prison.

“I found out that he either deliberately pushed his wife down the stairs or he pushed her and she fell down the stairs,” says Susan.

The news is hard to take for Susan. She struggles to come to terms with the idea that the man she loved so much for 30 years is a murderer.

“Wayne had every right to come to Australia and start a new life,” breathes Susan.

“I would have needed to know this part of her story before we got married,” she laments.
