Julio E. Sanchez Vanegas, who died at the age of 93 on January 26, was a pioneer of Colombian television in many of its formats, including entertainment. From Producciones JES, he broadcast for Colombia pageants such as Miss Universe or the Oscar Awards.
He also did game shows, such as the historic Concéntrese, and musical spaces, such as Espectaculares JES. There he opened his space so that artists, both established and emerging careers, might show their talent at a time when there were no social networks and all promotion was done by visiting television shows and radio stations.
After the news of his death, one of those artists who at the beginning of his career was grateful for the possibility of presenting his music to Colombians through the spaces of Julio E. Sánchez Vanegas, wanted to express his gratitude for that first impulse.
It is with great regret that I receive the news of the departure of Julio Sánchez Vanegas, a media great in Colombia. I will always be grateful for the unconditional support that he gave me in his musical program, even when no one knew me, I will never forget that. Rest on… pic.twitter.com/4QYPfIW04U
