Colin Braine-Beguin was a superhero as tall as three apples, but endowed with incredible powers, a permanent smile and unfailing courage. Powers that have long allowed him to repel the attacks of life. This Tuesday, the little 7-year-old Hutois spread his wings to reach the stars. “Colin was born with brain malformations,” explains his mother, Ludivine Beguin. “It wasn’t necessarily visible, but he spoke very late and he had pronunciation defects.” A difference that never stopped young Colin from laughing and developing at his own pace. “He was making very good progress. He was evolving sometimes even without telling us and he was very proud of it,” says his sister and godmother, Kim Braine. “He was a real fighter. He understood at the end of his life that he wasn’t like everyone else, but he never made us feel that. He probably wanted to protect us. He was a ray of sunshine.” But life will not have spared this little force of nature. A few months ago, Colin was having difficulty walking. He was constantly unbalanced and fell often. “We have the impression that destiny has taken its toll,” regrets his mother. “We discovered a tumor in his cerebellum. His was smaller than average because of his illness, so the tumor died very quickly. developed and took up all the space. He was operated on, but he had all the possible complications. He stayed in intensive care for a month, but he never woke up.” The damage to the brain stem was irreversible, so the family had to say goodbye to the little superhero. “When we learned there was no hope, we decided to opt for organ donation. That’s what he would have wanted. He always wanted to help others.”

A call for donations for the benefit of Château Vert

The heart is heavy for the family, but despite everything, the weather is still full of smiles. “We don’t want to collapse. He would never have wanted that. He was overflowing with life and combativeness. We want to keep this image of him and above all remain courageous as he was,” confides his godmother. Colin’s life was strewn with pitfalls but the little boy always knew how to find an outstretched hand. Particularly within its Château Vert school, which offers specialized education where mutual aid, development and solidarity are the key words. “He was integrated into the Solières municipal school for his first three years of kindergarten and then he went to the Château Vert a few times in May and June to see how he felt,” says Ludivine Beguin. “He has everything was immediately very well received and he really flourished within this institution. As a parent, it is really very pleasant to feel that his child is evolving in a positive environment and with a attentive and supportive team .” The family therefore decided to open an account number for the benefit of the school. At the moment, it amounts to a little over €400. “We’re in a bit of a whirlwind at the moment, but I want to continue the fight and encourage organ donation. I think I’ll go back to school soon and if I have the chance to get involved in one way or another, why not. That’s what my son would have wanted,” concludes his mother.

Curious, sociable, endearing and smiling, Colin leaves the image of a little boy who was keen to help others. And his fight continues through his family. To talk regarding life rather than death, to maintain hope even in mourning.

Donations should be made to the account BE84 3400 4695 9859 with the message “In memory of Colin”.
