Kinshasa07-03-2024Culture – Three years ago, Josky Kiambukuta, one of the most beautiful magicians of Congolese rumba, disappeared in Kinshasa.

Congolese singer Josky Kiambukuta completes this Thursday, March 7, 2023, three years in the followinglife, leaving the Congolese rumba orphaned. The latter lost one of her most beautiful voices at the age of 72. This artist musician, among the best Congolese singers, has marked his time with his beautiful voice for more than 40 years of career without stopping.

He lent his voice to several works, notably in OK Jazz by Franco Luambo Makiadi where he spent the majority of his career. We still remember his interventions in “Bon Marché”, “Farya”…

But he also produced his own works including “Chandra”, “Na mabele”, “Baby”, “Chez Mère Kusala”, “Sincerity”, “Mumune”, “Missile”.

It was in the African Fiesta Sukisa orchestra of Dr Nico Kasanda that this young talent took his first steps in the art of Orpheus before making his debut in Grand Kallé’s African Jazz in 1971.

In 1974, he was in Franco Luambo Makiadi’s OK Jazz orchestra. But in 1985, Josky temporarily separated from Franco for a solo career, in collaboration with Ntesa Dalienst before returning to his hands. He remained there until his death (Franco) before joining the group “Bana Ok”, made up of defectors from OK Jazz led by Simaro Lutumba, following differences with Franco’s heirs. The year is 1993. Overwhelmed by health problems, he will be forced to end his career. It is on March 7, 2021 that he will breathe his last in Kinshasa.
