In Lyon, Jean-Luc Mélenchon aims for a “non-aligned” France, Marion Maréchal formalizes her support for Eric Zemmour: political news live

Thirty-five days before the presidential election and two days following the declaration of candidacy of the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, two of the main candidates for the presidential election, Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Eric Zemmour, continue their campaign, Sunday March 6, despite the omnipresence of the war in Ukraine in French public debate.

On the left, the candidate of La France insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, will deliver a speech at 3 p.m. in the open air on the Gros Caillou esplanade, in Lyon. This “meeting for peace” should largely be devoted to the positions of the deputy of Bouches-du-Rhône on France’s foreign policy, to respond to criticism of his vision of a “non-aligned” geopolitics – he had to admit ” the mistake “ for having considered the invasion of Ukraine impossible and has been vigorously criticized by Yannick Jadot and Anne Hidalgo since the beginning of the conflict.

On the far right, Eric Zemmour will be on his side at the Zénith de Toulon, from 5 p.m., with the ambition of reviving the dynamics of his campaign, notably slowed down by his complacency with the regime of Vladimir Poutine, which he see as one “ally”. The Reconquest candidate! must also welcome on stage, for the first time, Marion Maréchal. The niece of Marine Le Pen, a former Frontist deputy, is the final stage, for the candidate’s campaign team, of a “union of rights” also symbolized by the recent arrivals of Guillaume Peltier (from the Republicans), Stéphane Ravier and Gilbert Collard (former National Rally).
