Shaken by the announcement of the death of his colleague and friend Paul Houde, commentator Michel Bergeron has only good words for the man he worked with for nearly 50 years.
Mr. Bergeron particularly remembers the simplicity, but also the versatility of Paul Houde.
“He was a good communicator, that’s obvious. He was an extraordinary host and an outstanding actor,” says the former Nordiques coach.
“He was a genius in his field,” he adds.
Michel Bergeron particularly remembers being able to measure the full extent of Paul Houde’s knowledge when they covered the Olympic Games together.
“When I saw Paul talking regarding athletics, talking regarding artistic competitions, I was stunned because I said to myself: it can’t be that a man is as knowledgeable in different spheres of sport as he was !”, he says.
For Michel Bergeron, the genius of Paul Houde is beyond doubt.
