In London, David Bowie will join the Music Walk of Fame

This is a new posthumous tribute to the man with a thousand faces: David Bowie, icon before the Lord, will be entitled to his plaque on the Music Walk of Fame, in the Camden district of London, on September 15. . There he joined British artists such as The Who, Amy Winehouse and Madness. Died in 2016 following delivering a final album, BlackstarBowie is now celebrated everywhere.

Inaugurated in 2019 not far from the Camden Town tube station in London, the Music Walk of Fame pays tribute, on the same principle as the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, to the great stars of music. After the essentials Amy Winehouse, Madness and The Who, and before Jimi Hendrix in November, it’s the turn of David Bowie to be entitled to his plaque on the Music Walk of Fame. This new London tourist attraction also acts as a virtual museum, since visitors walking down this alley can now, thanks to augmented reality, discover works, videos and music related to the honored artists.

« David Bowie is a global influence, one of the biggest influencers and sooner or later we had to have him on the Music Walk Of Fame said Lee Bennett, founder of the venue. The plaque will be inaugurated on September 15 in the presence of friends and close collaborators of David Bowie the day before the release of Moonage Daydream by Brett Morgen (director of Montage of Heck, on Kurt Cobain), an original musical documentary (and in IMAX) designed as an immersive cinematic experience, made from thousands of unpublished archives of the chameleon artist.

David Bowie, who gave birth to his alter ego Ziggy Stardust fifty years ago, is today celebrated around the world, in particular for having been one of the first openly queer rockstars of his time. Proof of the unfailing enthusiasm around Bowie, the handwritten lyrics of Starman will soon be sold at auction and are already estimated between £30,000 and £40,000.

Moonage Daydream – the first film of its kind to have been approved by David Bowie’s family – will be released in France on September 21. The soundtrack of the filmincluding unreleased live performances, interview excerpts and exclusive mixes of Bowie’s tracks, will be available digitally on September 16 and on CD in November.
