In the years to come, sub-Saharan Africa wants to make fertilizer accessible and available to all producers, large or small. Whether from mineral or organic sources, il remains for the States, a strategic product, without borders, and free to circulate without hindrance.
Gathered in Lomé for a high-level round table, three heads of state – Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé (Togo), Mohamed Bazoum (Niger, and also current president of Uemoa), Umaro Sissoco Embaló (Guinea -Bissau, current President of the ECOWAS) – as well as Ministers of Finance, Agriculture and Mines from seventeen African countries have decided to join partners, including the World Bank, to define a roadmap on access to fertilizers through local farmers to increase production capacity.
