On the Atlantic coast, traders were expecting a record season. Finally, restaurateurs, especially in Brittany and Pays de la Loire, are looking gloomy. Because between gloomy weather in July and price increases, customers have deserted their tables. Example in Pouliguen, in Loire-Atlantique, where Europe 1 went.
With the holidays coming to an end, it’s time to take stock. With rocky weather this summer, restaurateurs are looking gloomy. The result is not there. “I don’t go to restaurants, it costs a fortune”. Like this father, many on vacation have given up the pleasure of eating out. Finished the little extra, now everyone has their eye on the wallet. “Before, we used to have a restaurant and now we can’t”; “Even the fuel, everything has increased. So we have to be careful with everything”, explain these vacationers.
“It’s often a live dish, thank you and goodbye”
And yet, in this context of inflation, the manager had played the cheap card right up to the sidewalk, with no real effect. “On our totem at the entrance, we focused our communication on the four cheapest products between 17 and 18 euros. Every year, between the lunch service and the evening service, we refused in spades. Unfortunately, this year, I have refused almost nothing”, he regrets. From now on, the professionals are pinning great hopes on the late season, with in particular the Rugby World Cup, able to breathe new life into this lackluster summer.
