Asuncion, IP Agency.- As part of the implementation of the Zero Hunger in Schools Program, which seeks to improve food security and nutrition of school-age children, the National Service for Professional Promotion (SNPP), based in the city of Guarambaré, began an intensive course on healthy cooking.
This initiative, developed at the Municipal School of the aforementioned municipality, seeks to provide participants with the necessary knowledge to prepare nutritious and balanced meals for the students who benefit from the Zero Hunger Project.
Participants are trained to be selected by the local municipality to become future certified school cooks. They will receive 80 hours of intensive training.
The course, which is held from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, began on Monday, July 8, and will conclude on July 19. With the training provided with the support of the Municipality, the necessary supplies for culinary practices and nutrition professionals will be available.
The Zero Hunger in Schools Program contemplates food coverage for 1.3 million students nationwide, once implementation at the country level is complete.
The aim is to ensure that food arrives in the quantity and quality it should have, which is why the Government is trying to substantially improve the food security and nutrition indices in children, in addition to increasing class attendance, achieving 100% coverage of school lunches up to ninth grade.
