After two decrees annulled by the Constitutional Court, a third government decree imposes a health pass or a chargeable PCR test to access public places. Civil society accuses parliamentarians of remaining insensitive to the distress of the populations. On Friday, the President of the National Assembly broke the silence.

With our correspondent in Libreville, Yves-Laurent Goma

During this first press conference, the President of the National Assembly insisted that the deputies were not abandoning the population in the battle between them and the government on the subject of anti-Covid measures. Faustin Boukoubi also explained for the first time why the parliamentary report on the management of Covid funds, written in 2020, had never been published.

« As part of the legal procedure, the deputies voted once morest the publication of the said report in plenary, it is not in secret. »

The words of the President of the National Assembly are inadmissible, believes the former Minister for the Economy Justine Lekogo, who has become an active member of civil society.

« This report is intended for the people, our development partners and even the government. I simply note that the National Assembly is hiding the right information from the people. We, civil society, call for the publication of this report as soon as possible. »

According to the President of the National Assembly, the report cannot be published because some claims are not sufficiently substantiated and lack evidence.
