On March 13, 2023, authorities announced that only two people were still under observation. The others went home.

In the area of the disaster, the search continues. In the meantime, President Ali Bongo has decreed a three-day national mourning.

Four administrative officials suspended as a precaution
On the investigations side, sanctions are beginning to fall: four administrative officials have been suspended, as a precaution. They are the director general of the merchant navy and his deputy, as well as two provincial delegates for maritime affairs.
As for the shipowner, Royal Cost, owner of the Esther Miracle, its activities are suspended until further notice.
