UNITED STATES – This news item was on the front page of the American media on Wednesday February 22. A TV reporter and a nine-year-old girl were killed in Orlando, Florida in a shooting near the scene of another homicide earlier in the day.
A 19-year-old man suspected “for the murder this morning as well as for the shooting this followingnoon”was arrested by the police, announced at a press conference the sheriff John Mina, responsible for the county where the city of Orlando is located.

A local television crew Spectrum News 13 went to a street in suburban Orlando on Wednesday followingnoon to cover the shooting death of a 20-year-old woman earlier in the day.
As they were working, a man opened fire, killing a journalist and injuring his colleague, then entered a nearby house and, for no apparent reason, shot a woman and her nine-year-old daughter, killing the latter .

“The man passed by our team who were working in their car. We managed to dodge it”, told journalist Nick Papantoniswho was present on site for another channel. “The man then walked towards the other team working (also) in their car and opened fire. »
Luana Munoz, a reporter for WESH 2 Orlando, appeared very emotional during a live report on Wednesday evening (see the video below). She spoke of the tight-knit team of journalists affected by the tragedy, and said the situation was “really hard to cover”.
“His fiancée (to the deceased journalist, editor’s note) and I were just kissing”told the journalist during her report. “It’s every journalist’s worst nightmare. We come home at night fearing something like this is going to happen, and that’s what happened here”she added.
